IEEE Day
ABOUT IEEE CANADA 25TH ANNIVERSAY
Origins of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in Canada go back to 1903 when the first Canadian section of AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers, established in 1884) was formed in Toronto. That was followed by the formation of AIEE District 10 (Canada) – now IEEE Region 7, in 1921. AIEE and IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers, founded in 1912) merged in 1963 into IEEE. To serve better the needs of Canadian Electrical and Computer Engineers, Canadian Society of Electrical and Computer Engineers (CSECE) and IEEE Region 7 amalgamated into one organization – IEEE Canada in 1995. Please join us in the celebration of the IEEE Canada 25th Anniversary at a free video Workshop on IEEE Day, Oct. 06, 2020 at 12:30-15:00, and hear the exciting story about the formation of IEEE Canada – from those who created it – and about the rich and multi-faced operation today of IEEE Canada and its Philanthropic Partner – IEEE Canadian Foundation.
