History of IEEE Canada Sections

Before 1963, local entities were creatures of the founder societies, AIEE and IRE. The following is a list of current sections in Canada by date of formation of the earlier one if both AIEE and IRE entities existed. The link on the section name points to an historical list of section chairs (sections are invited to provide lists of their section chairs in the format used below). Avant 1963, les entités locales étaient des créations des sociétés fondatrices, AIEE et IRE. Ce qui suit est une liste de sections courantes au Canada par date de création en commençant avec la plus ancienne si les deux entités d’AIEE et d’IRE existaient. Le lien sur le nom de section se dirige à une liste historique de présidents de section (les sections sont invitées à fournir la liste de leurs présidents de section en utilisant le même format que celui utilisé ci-dessous).

NOTE: The Canada District (No. 10) was formed by the AIEE on 1 August 1921. In the 1962 Organization Manual, the following Sections are listed:

  • Hamilton
  • London
  • Montreal
  • Niagara International (New York and Ontario)
  • Ottawa
  • St. Maurice Valley
  • Toronto
